*** How the GOP race has changed in a week: So how have the events of the past week -- a woman (Sharon Bialek) publicly accusing Cain of sexual harassment, and Perry’s famous (or infamous) debate flub -- impacted the GOP horserace? According to a re-contact of 102 Republicans surveyed in last week’s NBC/WSJ poll, support for Perry plummeted, support for Cain stagnated or slightly decreased, and support for Romney and Gingrich increased.
Among these 102 GOP primary voters, Cain went from 28% to 27%; Perry from 8% to 4%; Romney from 27% to 32%; and Gingrich from 17% to 22%. Also per the re-contact, while Cain’s support declined just one percentage point, more Republicans now say they have concerns about voting for him after being accused of sexual harassment. In last week’s NBC/WSJ poll, a combined 17% of these 102 respondents said they were concerned “a great deal” or “quite a bit,” and 54% said they weren’t concerned at all. But 28% of them now say they are concerned “a great deal” or “quite a bit,” while 46% have no concerns.
