Buenas y malas noticias para Romney

The Brody File:
Here is the good news for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney: The GOP Establishment figures look like they are beginning to coalesce around him.

Here is the bad news Romney: The GOP Establishment figures look like they are beginning to coalesce around him.

This would be called the "good news, bad news" scenario.

On the surface it seems like the recent endorsements by Chris Christie and other GOP mainstream figures would give Romney’s campaign a vibe of inevitability. And indeed, that very well could be the case. Maybe the train is beginning to leave the station and there’s no doubt Romney has shown to be a most impressive candidate. However, a word of caution is in order.

It seems like the conservative voting electorate during this 2012 presidential campaign is in a mood for something and someone different. Being the conventional candidate may not work this cycle and it is definitely NOT an asset. Right now at least, Herman Cain is filling that void. We’ll see how it plays out. GOP Primary voters are definitely in a mood to show up at the polls to get rid of President Obama no matter who the candidate is so that bodes well for Romney.

In the meantime, Romney can go about lining up all the traditional endorsements he wants but ultimately that isn’t what is going to matter. Voters will have the final say and right now conservatives are in an ornery mood. They’re looking for a deeply conservative, Tea Party leaning candidate.

The way The Brody File sees it the only way Cain, challenges Romney for the nomination is having the ability to translate his success in the polls into hard, cold campaign cash so he can set up better infrastructure. Money talks and if you don’t believe that then I’ve got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Also, Cain is going to need to the conservative intellectual community to start singing his praises as well. That will give him more credibility with the media who will then start to write articles that fit the, “Herman Cain is for real” storyline. When that starts to happen, all bets are off.
