It’s his last weekend on the fence.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie -- under pressure to mount a GOP presidential bid -- mulled his options yesterday at his Morris County home.
He is expected to have his final answer this week -- maybe even as early as tomorrow. But until then, he’s keeping everyone guessing.
“Anything going on?” one staffer prodded Christie, a source told The Post.
“Nope,” the playful pol deadpanned.
“It’s all reading tea leaves,” said one adviser. “It’s just such guesswork. Nobody knows.”
Yet the atmosphere surrounding the pugnacious pol was described as “chaotic” by one source, and “fascinating” by another, as critical deadlines approach for candidates in the 2012 race -- including an Oct. 31 filing deadline for the Florida primary.
Today, he’s scheduled to appear at a public event at the Jersey Shore, but he won’t take any questions.
So his presidential ambitions -- or lack thereof -- won’t likely be unveiled until his next news conference, expected tomorrow or Tuesday.
