Staffers de más alto nivel de Team Perry

Dave Carney. Perry's chief strategist is the most-talked-about member of his staff. Carney was among the dozen or so staffers for Newt Gingrich's 2012 campaign who quit en masse earlier this spring; that exit was seen as a sign Perry would get into the race. Perry trusts Carney so much that in his 2006 reelection campaign, he let Carney import three "eggheads" from academia to rigorously study -- through randomized trials! -- which campaign tactics actually work.

Rob Johnson. Perry's campaign manager ran Perry's reelection campaign last year; before that he was chief of staff to Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and ran his 2002 campaign. Johnson is also a refugee from the struggling Gingrich campaign.

Deirdre Delisi, named policy and strategy director, was named Perry's chief of staff in 2004; four years later, Perry appointed her chair of the Texas Transportation Commission. Delisi worked for Perry way back when he was lieutenant governor as his special assistant. She worked as policy adviser for the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and Lamar Alexander.

Wayne Hamilton will serve as Perry's political director and was the longest serving executive director of the Texas Republican Party and led two of Perry's inaugural committees. Hamilton was on the organizing committee for Perry's big national prayer rally earlier this month, held one week before he jumped into the race.

Ray Sullivan. Perry's communications director worked as his chief of staff in Austin; he first worked for Perry in 1998. Sullivan worked for President George H. W. Bush's reelection campaign in 1992 and for George W. Bush in the mid-90s. Sullivan was a lobbyist for UBS when Perry weighed an unusual plan by the bank for Texas to facilitate placing bets on the lifespans of retired teachers.

Eric Bearse, deputy communications director, worked as a consultant for several Texas Republican officials. He wrote speeches for Perry for eight years and worked on Perry's campaigns for lieutenant governor and governor.

Mark Miner, national press secretary, has worked for Perry since 2008.

Robert Black, travel press secretary, worked for Perry from 2003 to 2008. Before that he worked for Texas's attorney general's campaign and the Texas Republican Party.

Katherine Cesinger has spent seven years working for Perry; for his presidential campaign, she'll serve as state press director.
